JEFFERSON — Area residents are invited to a debate among candidates running for state Assembly Districts 33, 38 and 43 on Wednesday, Oct. 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The chambers of commerce in Fort Atkinson, Jefferson and Watertown and the Fort Atkinson Branch of the American Association of University Women, in cooperation with WFAW 940-AM and the Daily Jefferson County Union, are event sponsors. WFAW news director Michael Clish will moderate.
The debate will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Puerner Room on the third floor of the Fort Community Credit Union, located at 100 N. Main St., Jefferson. Parking is available in the rear of the building. Light refreshments will be provided by the AAUW.
Participating in the debate will be state Rep. Cody Horlacher, R-Mukwonago, of District 33, and Democratic challenger Brandon White of Fort Atkinson; Republican Barbara Dittrich, Oconomowoc, and Democrat Melissa Winker, Oconomowoc, who are facing off for the District 38 seat being vacated by state Rep. Joel Kleefisch; and Gabriel Szerlong, a Republican who is challenging state Rep. Don Vruwink, D-Milton, for his District 43 seat. Vruwink initially was unable to attend due to a personal commitment, but now has announced he will be participating.
Citizens are welcome to submit questions ahead of time to the three chambers of commerce, the Daily Union or to WFAW. Guests at the debate also will have the opportunity to submit questions, as time allows.
