WHITEWATER — The Whitewater Unified School District announced that Lakeview and Washington Elementary Schools were ranked one of the best elementary schools in Wisconsin by U.S. News & World Report.

Both elementary schools placed among the top 30% of public elementary schools across the state.

The recently announced ranking list is the first-ever ranking for public elementary schools, after years of rankings for high schools across the nation.

Lakeview and Washington’s high ranking means the schools have earned the right to display a U.S. News-trademarked Best Elementary School’s award “badge” on the school’s social media, website, signage, apparel and more.

“This honor is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our teachers, staff and our principals,” Dr. Caroline Pate-Hefty, Whitewater superintendent, stated. “They are dedicated to every student, every day in a unified way.”
