Pat Cottrell pitched all seven innings for the Jefferson Blue Devils as they earned a 5-1 victory over Rome in the 38th annual Fort Atkinson Generals Tournament at Jones Park on Friday night.
Thomas Schlesner and Christian Ott gave the Blue Devils two hits each from the sixth and seventh spots in the order, respectively. Ott hit a pair of doubles and Schlesner hit two singles.
Roby Schlesner also was 2-for-3 for Jefferson.
Ben Gallo plated the only run of the game for Rome when he hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.
The Blue Devils advanced to the championship game of the Generals Tournament where they will play against Milton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, June 14. The game will take place during Baseball Fest at Jones Park.
Milton advanced to the championship game with a 2-0 victory against Fort Atkinson on Friday night. The Raptors only gave up three hits in their seven-inning win.
The Generals successfully laid down a sacrifice bunt to give themselves runners on second and third in the seventh inning. The next two batters struck out and the game was over.
Milton beat Rome for the tournament title in 2018. Fort Atkinson beat Johnson Creek to take third place.
