JEFFERSON — The Jefferson Blue Devils scored five runs in the first inning to spark a 13-3 victory against the Waterloo McKays in East Night League at Fischer Field on Thursday night.

Avery Clark hit a two-out double in the five-run rally. The Blue Devils went quietly in the second and third inning before plating five more runs in the fourth and two in the fifth. Pat Cottrell was 0-for-1 with two walks and three runs scored. Brandon Laesch was 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Thomas Schlesner and Zack Peterson each had two RBIs.

Aldair Ramirez earned the win after giving up seven hits and three walks. He fanned four batters.

Jefferson will continue its Night League slate at Cottage Grove on Thursday, July 18. The Blue Devils return to Sunday League action at home against Fort Atkinson on Saturday, July 13.

Cambridge 5, Cottage Grove 3

FORT ATKINSON — Jared Horton pitched four innings in relief and the Cambridge Blues scored five runs in the fourth inning to earn a 5-3 victory in East Section Home Talent Night League action on Thursday at Jones Park.

Blake Britzke led off the fourth by getting hit by a pitch and Clayton Ehrke hit a knubber past the pitcher leaving the Cottage Grove defense hopeless to make a play. From there, the rally was on. Cottage Grove switched pitchers after Kasey Morgan drew a walk.

Austin Haugen gave the Blues the lead for good with a single to right field. Chase Jarlsberg drove and Horton each followed with singles to add to the Blues lead.

Cambridge handed Cottage Grove its first loss in Night League. The Blues return to Night League action on the road against Albion on July 18.
