MCFARLAND — The Fort Atkinson American Legion varsity baseball team knocked off host McFarland 3-2 on Thursday.
The Hawks scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning, when Tyler Narkis drew a one-out walk, stole second and third base before coming around on a base knock by cleanup man Ryan Schoenherr.
Eli Burhans produced a two-run single with two away in the Fort fourth to open the scoring. McFarland countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to square it up.
Hawks starter Gabe Staude struck out six and allowed two earned on two hits in five frames to earn the decision. Sheldon Burnett worked two scoreless innings to pick up the save, striking out four with no walks.
Fort hosts Jefferson on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Jones Park.
