Steve Mahoney

Fort Atkinson head football coach Steve Mahoney stepped down Wednesday night after 17 years of working as a head coach. He will remain as the athletic director at the high school.

Steve Mahoney was a recent guest on SportsTalk with Jamie Koepp. The Fort Atkinson native is entering his fourth year as the Fort Atkinson High School Athletic Director. During this time, the athletic department received the 2018 WIAA Award of Excellence, won several conference championships and created the “One Team Culture” in Fort Atkinson.

The former Blackhawk athlete is also the department chair for PE and Health. As the head football coach from 2001-2017, Coach Mahoney guided the Blackhawks to 11 trips to the WIAA playoffs as well as winning a conference championship in 2003. Steve is currently the winningest football coach in Fort Atkinson’s history with 81 wins.

Mahoney was also an assistant coach with the Fort Atkinson basketball program for 12 years.

“AD Mahoney exemplifies what it is to be a passionate leader that focuses on best practice for students and student-athletes at Fort Atkinson High School,” Koepp said.
