JEFFERSON — The Eagles picked up their second win of the season in a shootout as Jefferson defeated Palmyra-Eagle, 2-1, in a non-conference prep girls soccer game Thursday night in Jefferson.
“We played tonight against Palmyra-Eagle in a very exciting game,” Jefferson head coach Sam El-Beri said.
Palmyra-Eagle and Jefferson both scored first-half goals, but were both held scoreless in the second half.
“We had lots of opportunities throughout the game, but Palmyra-Eagle had a solid keeper,” El-Beri said.
The Eagles defeated the Panthers, 3-2, in the shootout.
Jefferson’s lone score came in the 16th minute with a goal from Isabel Tackman.
“Isabel Tackman got a ball from Emma El-Beri and made a few kids miss and buried a shot in the upper-corner,” El-Beri said.
Palmyra-Eagle equalized in the 21st minute with a score from Logan Fritsch.
Heather Fox grabbed four saves for the Eagles.
“I was proud of the team and how they played all night,” El-Beri said.
Jefferson (2-10-4, 2-7-1) will play a non-conference road game against Lake Mills on Monday at 6:45 p.m.
Fort Atkinson 3, Monroe 0
FORT ATKINSON — Senior Corrine Stoutenborough scored a goal and added two assists in a 3-0 Blackhawk win over Monroe in Badger South prep girls soccer Thursday in Fort Atkinson.
Sophomore Alexa Dahnert scored the first goal of the game in the 25th minute. Stoutenborough was credited with the assist on the score.
Stoutenborough got a goal for herself with a score in the 59th minute. Madison Hawkins assisted Stoutenborough on the goal.
Stoutenborough returned the favor in the 81st minute with an assist on a Hawkins’ goal.
The Blackhawks’ clean sheet was highlighted by the team not allowing a single Cheesemaker corner kick. Fort Atkinson generated five corner kicks and got up nine shots.
Fort Atkinson will host Waukesha South on Saturday at Blackhawk Stadium at 6 p.m.
Cambridge/Deerfield 3, Lakeside Lutheran 1
CAMBRIDGE — The Warriors netted an early goal, but Cambridge/Deerfield United scored three unanswered-goals in its 3-1 win over Lakeside Lutheran Thursday night in non-conference prep girls soccer at Cambridge High School.
Lakeside Lutheran got the first goal of the game in the 6th minute with a score from sophomore Kendra Wilson.
Sophomore Sabrina Rodriguez equalized shortly after with a goal in the 14th minute.
Senior Jayme Fischer broke the tie with a score in the 52nd minute to put United up 2-1.
Less than two minutes later in the 54th, Cambridge/Deerfield built on the lead with a goal from senior Jacey Sewell.
Fischer was credited with an assist.
Up next for United (1-5-2) is an away game against Watertown Luther Prep on Tuesday. Lakeside Lutheran (0-7-3) will play an away game on Saturday versus Hustisford at 1 p.m.
